Praana Companion App: The Ultimate Digital Partner for Smarter Wellness
Praana Companion is a mobile wellness app by Aarogya Tech that connects with the Praana Edge (FDA-cleared) monitoring device to help individuals and families measure, monitor and manage their health. It is the patient/member-facing part of the Praana ecosystem (alongside Praana Guide for caregivers and Praana Assist/Sense devices) and runs on iOS and Android. The app provides dashboards and journals for physical, neurological and psychological health data, turning raw measurements into personalized insights. Users retain full control of their data – all readings stay on the phone, are encrypted in transit, and sharing is consent-driven and revocable.
Key Features & Functions
- Vital Signs Measurement: Using the Praana Edge (aka Praana Sense) device, users can record clinical-grade vitals (blood pressure, ECG, heart rate, SpO₂, temperature, etc.) in minutes. The “Measure” screen guides the user through device-assisted readings, which are automatically saved to the app.
- Health Dashboards & Trends: All measurements (device-based or manual) appear on trend charts and dashboards. For example, a Blood Pressure tab shows historic values and averages over time, helping users “Monitor, Analyse … and take charge” of their cardiovascular health.
- Manual Logs and Reports: Users can manually log additional vitals (e.g. blood glucose, weight) and attach medical reports or lab results. The app’s Reports section lets users upload/view past lab/imaging reports (see image below) to keep a digital health record. This supports continuity of care and long-term tracking.
- Health Profile & Journal: A built-in health profile lets users enter personal/family medical history, allergies, medications and social history. For instance, the app records family members’ histories (e.g. “Hypertension – Father”) and allergies to tailor alerts and reminders. This family health journal can be shared within the app to inspire awareness among relatives.
- Gamified Tracking (Streaks): Praana Companion gamifies compliance by tracking “active weeks” and daily measurement streaks. It rewards users for consistent monitoring (e.g. 3 measurements in a week counts as an active week). The Streaks view (shown below) motivates regular check-ins and highlights long-term commitment.
- Data Sharing & Collaboration: Users (called “members”) can share their health data with connected parties – doctors, caregivers or family members – via the app. Connections are consent-based; the member controls when, what and how long to share. For example, a patient in a care program might share blood pressure trends with a doctor, or invite relatives to view select data. Shared data is view-only for recipients. The app also supports inviting non-platform users (friends, family, collaborators) to join and share data.
- Group Management: In community or clinical programs, the app integrates with Praana Guide (for facilitators). A member can join groups (managed by a nurse, health worker or organizer) to participate in coordinated activities. Members can manage their group memberships (accept invites, leave groups) in one place. Facilitation and communication (in hospitals, schools, corporate wellness, or even travel excursions) are handled via the Guide app.
- Health Alerts: The app raises alerts for critical readings. For instance, persistent high blood pressure triggers hypertension alerts in-app or via SMS/WhatsApp. These alerts leverage medical best practices to notify users early (or their caregivers via the Guide) about possible issues.
- Profile Management & Privacy: Users can edit their profile (personal details, unit preferences, privacy settings) in a unified screen. They control unit sync, data-sharing preferences, and can even request full account deletion. The app encrypts all data in transit, and follows a “privacy-by-design” model: data stays on the device, sharing is explicit/time-bound, and only authorized roles (e.g. the member’s clinician) can view sensitive info.
Typical Workflow and Usage
- Sign Up and Onboarding: The user downloads Praana Companion (iOS/Android) and registers (often via mobile OTP). They set up their profile (age, health conditions) and preferences. In supported countries, OTP may be delivered via WhatsApp for convenience.
- Pairing the Device: The user pairs the Praana Edge/Sense device (via Bluetooth) in the app. Once connected, they can initiate measurements.
- Measuring Vitals: To record vitals, the user taps Measure (heart icon) and follows prompts. The device automatically measures selected vitals (e.g. blood pressure, ECG) and sends results to the app. Each reading is labeled with a timestamp and categorized (e.g. “Normal”). The app dashboard then shows the latest values and charts of past readings (see example).
- Reviewing Data and Trends: After measuring, users can view history. Charts update to reflect trends (day/week/month). Users can also log data manually (e.g. enter a blood glucose reading or weight measurement) via similar input forms. All tracked metrics appear in the health dashboard for ongoing monitoring.
- Logging Reports: In the Reports tab, users can add lab/imaging documents. For example, they can upload an image of a blood test or X-ray report. The app then indexes these by date and type, so past test results are easily accessible (as shown below).
- Staying Motivated: Users can check their “Streaks” each week to see if they’ve maintained regular measurements. The app displays how many “active weeks” and active days they have, encouraging continuity. If a user falls behind, the streak chart visually nudges them to keep measuring frequently.
- Sharing and Collaboration: When ready to connect with others, a member can invite clinicians or family via the app. Connections appear under a “Shared with Me” list. For instance, [22] below shows a member sharing data with a doctor (“Matt Smith, Miami, USA”). Members choose which data streams to share. All shared data flows securely to the recipient’s view-only dashboard (in their Companion or Guide app).
- Receiving Alerts and Feedback: If the user’s measurements or symptoms trigger alerts (e.g. high BP), the app highlights them in the interface. Severe alerts can also generate SMS/WhatsApp messages to the user or their caregiver. Educational tips or recommended next steps may appear. Over time, the system personalizes recommendations (like reminders or hydration cues) based on individual baselines.

Who Uses Praana Companion and How
Praana Companion is intended for patients, families, and wellness participants who want continuous health monitoring. It suits older adults and chronic-care patients (e.g. hypertension, diabetes) as well as anyone in a family or community health program. Users can be standalone (monitoring themselves at home) or part of organized programs.
- Individuals/Families: Any user aged 13+ can install the app to track personal vitals and health data. Families can add multiple profiles (parents, children) and compare trends together. The app’s language is simple, so non-tech-savvy members can measure at home (guided by the device). Over time it builds a complete personal health timeline.
- Connected Caregivers: Clinicians, nurses or community health workers use the complementary Praana Guide app to manage patient groups. For example, a community nurse might create a “Diabetes Group” and invite patients. Those patients use Companion to log daily glucose and BP. The nurse sees the aggregated data remotely in Praana Guide and can send feedback or schedule follow-ups. (Measurements taken by the nurse on the Praana Assist station also sync into the Companion app.)
- Program Facilitators: The Guide app also supports non-medical coordinators (e.g. school health officers, corporate wellness managers, or even tour guides) who want to engage a group. These facilitators can broadcast tips, invite new members, or organize check-in activities. Member activity reports (like compliance rates, average vitals) help facilitators adjust programs.
In summary, members use Praana Companion to self-monitor, and facilitators use Praana Guide to organize care. The ecosystem is designed so that each data connection is intentional: a member chooses when to share measurements, and only consenting parties can view them.
Data Privacy & Security
Praana Tech emphasizes user privacy. According to the developer: health data “remains securely stored on the user’s phone, and sharing is consent-based, time-bound, and revocable”. Devices hold no protected health info (PHI) – only encrypted metric values. All transmissions (to cloud or to connected users) are encrypted. The Companion app’s privacy settings let users see exactly what personal/health data is collected and shared. Google Play notes that the app “may collect personal info, health & fitness data” but explicitly “encrypts data in transit” and allows users to request deletion. In practice, this means a user can disconnect the app at any time or wipe their account, and health workers lose access immediately. Role-based access ensures that only authorized caregivers (e.g. the member’s doctor or designated community nurse) can view shared records.
Platforms and Availability
Praana Companion is a free app on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. It is rated 13+ (Everyone, health & fitness category) and lightweight (~100 MB). The app is continuously updated with new features: in late 2025 it added group management and hypertension alerts, and by early 2026 it simplified profile management and expanded to new countries. Initially launched in India, USA, and Nepal, it later rolled out in Canada, Singapore, Germany, Jamaica, Dominica, Honduras, Guatemala, the Cayman Islands and beyond. Through these global updates, Aarogya Tech aims to make proactive home-based monitoring accessible worldwide.
